Nugget is a smart, energetic young man looking for an experienced home that can help him continue to develop into the wonderful dog we know he can be. Full of enthusiasm for life, Nugget thrives when he has a job to do and would love an active family committed to providing plenty of physical exercise, mental enrichment, and ongoing training. Previous breed experience is highly recommended to help him reach his full potential.

One of Nugget’s biggest strengths is his incredible motivation for both food and toys, making him a fantastic candidate for reward-based training. He responds well when handlers use high-value treats or a favourite squeaky toy to keep his focus and engagement. When out walking, these tools are especially helpful for redirecting his attention if he becomes excited or fixated on other dogs. With consistency and positive reinforcement, Nugget has shown he is capable of learning and making great progress.

Nugget is seeking a dog-savvy home that understands the importance of continued training and socialisation. He will benefit from ongoing work in general obedience, impulse control around toys, dog-to-dog desensitisation, and exposure to new people, environments, sounds, and experiences. Due to his tendency to become aroused around other dogs, he is looking for a home in a low dog-traffic area and should not attend dog parks. He will need dedicated adopters willing to invest time into helping him build confidence and appropriate coping skills.

For Nugget’s success, he must be the only dog in the home and is not suitable to live with cats. He would be best suited to a household with teenagers aged 15 years and older who can respect his training needs and boundaries. In return, Nugget will reward his family with endless enthusiasm, loyalty, and a love for adventure. For the right adopters, this special boy has all the ingredients to become an incredible lifelong companion. 🐾
