Expert puppy training

Our Expert Trainers have trained thousands of puppies and new puppy owners. Their experience means practical, effective, science-based methods you can use at home.

We use humane, force-free training techniques that build trust and enthusiasm.

Supervised interactions with other puppies and people reduce fear and help prevent future behaviour problems.

Every session focuses on skills you can practise at home—potty training, bite inhibition, recall, handling, and early obedience.

Individual attention ensures your puppy gets personalised guidance and feedback.

Frequently asked Questions

Q: What age should my puppy attend Puppy School?

A: Puppies are most receptive to learning and socialisation between 8–16 weeks. We recommend beginning puppy preschool as soon as basic vaccinations are completed (check with your vet). Contact us if your puppy is younger or older — we’ll advise what’s best.

A: Safety is our priority. Puppies should have had their first set of vaccinations and be cleared by a vet. We follow best-practice hygiene and health checks to minimise risk. If you’re unsure about vaccination timing, speak to your vet and our trainers before enrolling.

A: Underdog Training uses positive, reward-based, force-free methods proven to build reliable behaviours and strong bonds. Training focuses on management, consistency, and gentle encouragement.

A: Puppy School teaches bite inhibition and provides alternatives to mouthing. While puppies naturally explore with their mouths, consistent guidance and practice at home rapidly reduces nipping. Our trainers show owners how to respond calmly and effectively.

A: Class sizes are kept small so each puppy and owner receive personalised attention. Exact numbers may vary by location; please contact us for current class sizes and availability.

A: Yes. Owner involvement is essential. Trainers demonstrate techniques and then coach owners during practice so you leave confident applying what you’ve learned at home.

A: Please bring your puppy’s vaccination record, a flat buckle collar or harness, a short plain lead, 1–2 types of high-value treats (small, soft pieces), a favourite toy, and a towel or mat for your puppy to rest on.

A: Puppy School is designed for young puppies, but Underdog Trainers offer other classes and private training for older dogs. Contact us about appropriate options if your dog is beyond the puppy stage.
