You’ll Love This Dixie Chick!
Dixie was first rescued from the 2019/2020 NSW bushfires alongside 4 other siblings although her mother and another sibling weren’t so fortunate.
Dixie is a soft, sweet girl with a gentle heart and a deep love for human company. Once she feels safe, her affectionate nature shines through, leaning in for cuddles, seeking reassurance, and soaking up every bit of kindness offered. She bonds deeply with her people and thrives in a calm, understanding home where she can feel secure. Dixie is especially comfortable with women and relaxes much more quickly around them, making a female‑led household an ideal match.
Because she’s a slightly anxious and timid girl, Dixie needs slow, patient introductions with new people. Fast movements and loud noises can overwhelm her, especially in busy environments, so she’ll need a family willing to go at her pace and help her build confidence gently. Despite her worries, she’s a clever, sensitive soul who wants to trust, she just needs someone who will show her the world isn’t so scary. Once she warms up, she becomes vocal, sooky, and wonderfully expressive, showing just how much she adores being close to her humans.
On the lead, Dixie walks beautifully most of the time. She can be moderately strong and may pull a little when excited, but she responds well to gentle leash pressure and enjoys getting out for calm, steady walks. She’s house‑trained, settles well in her pen, and sleeps soundly on her bed, showing she has lovely manners and a sweet routine already in place. She’s suitable for kids 10+, though she has lived with toddlers before, she simply didn’t understand her size and could accidentally knock them over.
For now, Dixie is best suited as the only dog in the home, where she can feel safe and supported without added pressure. With time and positive, slow socialisation, she may be able to make dog friends who match her gentle temperament. What she needs most is a patient, loving family who will let her blossom at her own pace and celebrate every little step forward. If you’re looking for a tender‑hearted companion who will reward your patience with unwavering love, Dixie is ready to find her safe place in the world. She’s a delicate soul with so much affection to give, she just needs the right people to help her shine. Apply Now for the opportunity to meet this precious girl. 🐾
