Pancake

Pancake is a fun-loving party girl who loves company. She is enthusiastic about food and going for walks, but her main passion is sitting with her people, (preferably in a lap) and snoozing.

Once relaxed in her home her cheeky intelligence shines and she picks up what you want her to do with a little soft snack as an incentive. She comes to her name unless distracted by a new playmate but the only command she seems to follow is Stay. She will hold it for 5-10 mins but after that wants to come and get some reassurance. Overall, her personality is curious, happy and gregarious which makes her an adorable friend you can take anywhere.

When she arrived, she had to be closely clipped due to matting from neglect so has been wearing coats while her coat grows. She is a low shedding dog that needs a twice weekly brush to stop her matting. Regular grooming will keep her growing coat looking smart.

The only training issue that needs some attention is that she occasionally does a wee inside, but a doggy door and a little garden should help her understand that toilet is an outside only activity. Currently she uses her twice daily short walks around the block for 99% of her toileting needs.

Pancake is not a dog that would suit someone who is in full time work away from home. She suffers from separation anxiety but is OK for short periods at home or in the car if you pop to the shops. Someone working from home or someone at home with her most of the time would be best. With time she will be pleased to see you rather than upset you left her in the first place.

Luckily, she is a perfect social companion and can go anywhere. She is happy to settle in the car on a comfy bed for drives and wants to make friends with both dogs and humans. She has not reacted to any cats so far but is not curious about them at all. She would enjoy a home with children over 10 as she is a little wobbly on her back legs and can get knocked over easily

Pancake might benefit from living with another dog, but compatibility would have to be tested as her social skills with other dogs were patchy to start but improved as time went on. She may not have had many other dogs as company in her previous life, but she is smart and getting better each day. She is not at all aggressive and is just very friendly.
