Our volunteer team is one of the biggest assets to our shelter and provides essential assistance in caring for the animals the shelter houses. Without volunteers, our shelter could not continue to save the thousands of animals we do every year. Volunteering is a rewarding experience and our animals are the ones who reap the benefits of our volunteer community’s generosity. If you have any questions before applying, please feel free to contact Jamie, volunteermanager@aaps.org.au

As the warmer months are approching the AAPS are gearing up for lots of events over the coming months. We’re looking for volunteers to help celebrate the AAPS and promote the amazing work we do here at the shelter – most of the events will be on weekends, so flexability around weekends is must. If you’re not in the position to volunteer on a weekly roster and want to help out, this is a great opportunity. Some of the jobs invloved would be – directing customers, manning an AAPS stall at a certain event along with staff, setting up and packing down of an event.

Housekeeping is the perfect position if you love supporting an animal shelter, but don’t want to directly volunteer with the animals – but still get all the benifits, this role provides all the clean bedding for the animals in our care to make them feel warm, safe and cosy at night. The housekeeping team is such a major part of our working operations at the shelter, we operate the laundry across 7 days. If you would like to join this team, please apply below.

This role is very rewarding as you will be hands on with the animals in our care. We start you off at entry level and you work your way up with the more energetic breeds. You will be confident with all breeds of dogs and able to take direction well from the kennels team.
CATTERY DEPARTMENT: APPLICATIONS CURRENTLY CLOSED
Come join the Cattery team and provide much needed enrichment for these fine felines. We currently have a lot of cats on site at the AAPS and we need dedicated volunteers to provide these fury friends with plenty of play and love. Although we’re seeking volunteers to provide mostly enrichment, this role will also be required to assist with cleaning condo’s/ dishes at times.
