Truffle is a bright, playful young dog who has already shown encouraging progress since arriving at the shelter and spending time in foster care. He came in with very little training, but his improvement has been steady, especially with the structure and guidance provided by his foster carer. He’s highly food‑motivated, eager to learn, and full of personality, a great match for someone who enjoys working with an energetic dog who needs direction. Despite his friendly nature, he lacks manners and impulse control, so he’ll need an owner committed to consistent training and structure.

Truffle can be boisterous and excitable, often jumping up or becoming over‑aroused. When frustrated, he may redirect onto the lead, but he responds well to lead guidance and food redirection. He can also be a bit mouthy at times, though this improves with calm handling and clear boundaries. His biggest areas for development are settling, managing arousal levels, and building impulse control, especially around food. The good news is that he already knows sit, drop, paw, and targeting, is crate trained, and is mostly house‑trained in the shelter environment.

Truffle will thrive in an adult‑only home that is active but not chaotic. He needs a calm, structured environment where he can decompress, learn, and build good habits. He cannot live with cats, as he chased them in his foster home. He may be able to live with another dog, but only if the owners are fully committed to meeting his training and mental‑stimulation needs and ensuring the match is appropriate. Breed‑experienced owners are strongly preferred, as Truffle is smart, energetic, and benefits from confident, knowledgeable handling.
