Lola

When Lola was transferred to us from another shelter, she was in a very poor state.

Her ears were severely sun damaged, resulting in painful skin cancers that would bleed. Unfortunately, this is a result of a white cat being allowed to spend her days outside under the damaging sun.

As a result, she required her ears to be amputated.

It was a relief to find out this treatment worked in removing all the cancer from Lola’s system.

Prior to Lola’s surgery we performed pre-anaesthetic blood testing which showed that Lola had high calcium in her blood.

Sometimes this high calcium can be the result of cancer, but she had no signs of other cancer than the cancer affecting her ears. After her ears were removed, we rechecked her calcium levels which were still high so we have diagnosed Lola with idiopathic hypercalcemia.

Idiopathic hypercalcemia is the most common cause of high blood calcium levels. Although Idiopathic means we do not know what the underlying cause is, hypercalcemia is a treatable disease although patients require lifelong therapy and monitoring.

Due to her ongoing management AAPS will offer free consultations once every month for 6 months to review her hypercalcemia and offer cost price blood testing at $90 for this period also.

Lola is a lovely lady, who despite all she has been through, absolutely loves people and is super affectionate. Every morning she is happy to see you and is always excited for breakfast time.

Lola is lucky to have come to us when she did, as being here truly saved her life. She is now looking for a forever home that will give her the life she truly deserves.

She would be suit a quiet, indoor only home with no other pets. she is friendly with people of all ages but would prefer any kids in the home to be 10 years or older.

Lola just wants someone who will love and adore her and give her plenty of attention.
