Athena

Foster-to-adopt

Athena is a truly beautiful young pup who can’t wait to get a second chance at a wonderful life.

She can be a little nervous with new people to begin with, and as she came to us as a transfer from a pound, we don’t have a lot of information about her history – what we can determine is that it is likely that she has had limited socialisation with people and places in the initial 6 months of her life.

Luckily for Athena, with some positive reinforcement and gentle introductions to new places and people in the big wide world around her, we are certain that she will continue to grow in confidence and become the happy-go-lucky pup she deserves to be!

She is SUCH a sweetie pie, and when she feels comfortable, she adores affection from her human friends. She can be a bit silly and likes to jump up on people to greet them, so she will need some gentle guidance to teach her some manners.

Being a puppy, Athena would benefit fantastically from group training classes and obedience to help build her skills and keep her brain and body active. Being a Shepherd X Kelpie mix, she is likely to be a very active and very clever dog – so she will need an experienced home with people who understand how to keep her stimulated by integrating mental and physical enrichment into her daily routine.

She is ideally looking for a home with another well-mannered, desexed male doggy companion. Due to her timid nature, she would prefer an adult only home or a home with older/teenage and dog savvy kids who can read her body language and give her space when she needs it.

She will be adopted on a foster-to-adopt agreement, as her desexing will be delayed until she is at the appropriate age (approx 1.5 years).
